Mauricio Pochettino has had a dig at Chelsea
midfielder Oscar after it was confirmed that the
Brazilian has reached an agreement to join Chinese
outfit Shanghai SIPG.
Oscar’s move to China is the latest in a number of
big-money transfers to the league but Tottenham
manager Pochettino claims he can’t understand
the decision.
The Spurs boss claimed “football is not only
money” and doesn’t agree with Oscar’s decision to
join the Chinese outfit in a reported £60million
move.
The transfer was confirmed by Chelsea on their
Twitter page on Friday morning and in a story on
their official website.

Asked whether Oscar’s move is a sign for concern
in the Premier League, Pochettino said “I don’t
believe it is a danger for us,” as quoted by
“It’s sometimes difficult to understand this type of
decision. Football for me is not only money, it’s to
be competitive and for me the Premier League is
the most important league in the world.”
The Chelsea midfielder’s transfer is expected to be
in the region of £60million and he will follow in the
footsteps of former teammate Didier Drogba and
Hulk.
According to BBC Sport , he will become the
seventh highest transfer of all-time and will be
earning a huge £400,000 a week which is four
times as much as Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
Oscar has enjoyed some success with Chelsea
and was a big player under Jose Mourinho when
the Blues won the Premier League. He has also
won the Europa League and the League cup during
his London career.
In 203 appearances for Chelsea he scored 38
goals and provided 37 assists.
Aj just 25, he’s still at the peak as a footballer and
his move to China will definitely put a lot of other
big clubs on alert over the possibility of head-
turning offers coming in.
