Neville: Chelsea too consistent for other Premier League contenders

Gary Neville believes Chelsea are now the team to
beat in the Premier League title race heading into
the New Year.
The Blues sit six point clear at the summit of the
table, after a 1-0 triumph over Crystal Palace
marked their 11th straight domestic victory.
Antonio Conte’s side have not lost a Premier
League game, and have only conceded two goals
since the end of September.
Eight time top flight champion Gary Neville claims
Chelsea are too solid across the pitch for their
fellow title contenders.
“What I would say is that Chelsea have the
consistency. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester
City are playing a very mobile brand of football,”
Neville said on Sky Sports.
“Power, pace and strength have always been
important assets of winning titles if you go back to
all the teams that have won it.
“If you look at the Chelsea team and the spine of it,
you see Kante, Matic, Costa, Azpilicueta, Luiz and
Cahill, you’ve got experience, reliability, strength
and power.
“They can play in a nasty game, they can play in a
good game, they can play in a passing game, they
can play in a cold night, they can do everything
you’d want to do to win the league.
“The other three teams aren’t robust enough to
cope when the punches come. The punches always
come in a 38-game season.”
Chelsea close out 2016 with a home clash against
Bournemouth on December 27.
