Done deal: Arsenal complete transfer for Chelsea hero – fans will like this

In a surprising deal, Arsenal have announced the
signing of Zech Medley on a scholarship deal. The
former Chelsea defender was released by The
Blues back in October, and was handed a trial at
The Emirates, and has now signed fully with The
Gunners, according to reports from Metro
The 16-year-old player was deemed not good
enough for Chelsea’s youth teams, and was let go
earlier in the season. The tall centre-back has
played at age grade levels for England.
Medley, who had been with Chelsea since the age
of 8, was shockingly released by Chelsea in
October. He did well to convince the youth coaches
of the 13-time English champions, and will now join
the U-18s in Arsenal’s quest for dominance in the
nearest future. He was signed on a scholarship,
which could become a full-time professional
contract when he turns 17.
The gangly looking centre-back is known for his
aerial ability. He is confident in passing the ball out
of the back and possesses football intelligence to
time tackles and compete successful
interceptions. He will be hoping to follow in the
footsteps of the likes of Martin Keown and Ashley
Cole as Arsenal’s homegrown talents who broke
into the first team at The Emirates.
Arsenal will be hoping that Medley fulfill his
potential and become a key part of the first team
with proper guidance.
