The Blues head into the game in stunning form,
with Antonio Conte’s men having wrapped up
their 10th win on the spin in the top flight against
Sunderland in midweek.
Chelsea know that victory over Palace would
move them a staggering nine points clear at the
top of the table ahead of this weekend’s round of
fixtures.
The west London club have inevitably been
installed as the firm favourites to win the title this
season following their recent brilliant form.
However, former Arsenal star Merson believes
that Chelsea could be on course to drop points
against the Eagles on Saturday lunchtime at
Selhurst Park.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports , Merson
said: “I know Palace haven’t enjoyed the best of
times recently, and Chelsea are playing well, but
this will be a hard game for Chelsea. For me, it
all depends on Wilfried Zaha. The way of beating
this three-at-the-back system is to get the ball
out wide. They can give Chelsea a bit of a scare
if they do.
“If you look at Chelsea’s last two games, they
haven’t blown teams away. They fell over the
line against West Brom, who deserved a draw
and then a world class save stopped Sunderland
getting a point.
“This is a difficult game, and I don’t think
Chelsea are scoring enough goals at the minute.
Draw.”
