Manchester United defeated Zorya in the Europa
League last night and confirmed their place in the
Round of 32 of the competition. Summer signing
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan scored
for the Red Devils.
United still need to improve big time and they are
ready to reinforce the squad in the winter transfer
window. If reports in the media are anything to go
by then West Ham star Dimitri Payet is once again
in the limelight.
The Old Trafford club were heavily linked with the
French international back in summer but the
versatile playmaker opted to stay with the
Hammers.
On 26th November, Mirror reported that United are
interested in signing the £35million rated
(€41.5million) Les Bleus star in the winter transfer
window.
Now, reports in France have added more fire to the
rumor. According to reports (SW via
Le10Sport), Mourinho has moved in, contacted
Payet and made him aware that he wants him at Old
Trafford.
The 29-year-old star is one of the best attacking
playmakers in the league who made it into last
season’s PFA Team of the Year. He was brilliant for
France at the European Championships as well.
This season, Payet has featured in 15 games for
the Hammers, scored 2 goals and also provided 7
assists.
Convincing Dimitri to move to Old Trafford might be
easy but West Ham are just a single point above the
relegation zone and will not want to lose their prized
asset. We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds
next month.
