another Premier League winners' medal
ohn Terry is preparing to keep foreign
clubs waiting on his future as he
concentrates on trying to play a part in
Chelsea’s Premier League title bid.
With his contract due to expire at the end of
the season, 35-year-old Terry is already
attracting interest – particularly from
overseas with foreign clubs allowed to speak
to him from January.
Terry remains a popular figure with Chelsea
There is strong interest in Terry from China
with Shanghai Shenhua, who have appointed
the central defender’s former Chelsea team-
mate Gus Poyet, the latest club to look at
him.
Clubs from America and Turkey retain an
interest in Terry, but he has no plans to open
talks with interested parties in the New Year
as he attempts to add yet another winners’
medal to his impressive collection.

Chelsea left Terry sweating on his future
until May last season and no decisions are
likely to be taken on whether or not he will
be offered another extension until towards
the end of this campaign.
Terry, who believes he can play on either at
Chelsea or abroad for two more years, is
prepared for that and is mindful that he does
not want to cause any distractions with the
team at the top of the Premier League table
and battling for the title.
His sole focus at the moment is to regain his
fitness and try to win a place back in head
coach Antonio Conte’s team. Even if he
remains on the sidelines, Terry believes he
can play an important role at the training
ground and in the dressing room.

Terry started the season in Conte’s back four,
but has not started in the Premier League
since suffering an injury at Swansea City,
during which time Chelsea have switched to a
back three.
